Your Source for Trays!

Plastic Medical Trays & Packaging

ECP offers stock medical shipping trays and custom medical shipping trays.  A packaging project manager will work with you and help determine the best material and tray for your application. We offer tray and material samples for testing and can offer best practices for medical packaging. It is the customer’s responsibility to determine whether the material is applicable for their application. The standard manufacturing process does not include a cleanroom and this applies to all stock trays.  We do, however, offer Class 8 Cleanroom Packaging for custom plastic trays on volumes over 10,000 pieces.  Also available are “clean” options for items not run in a thermoform cleanroom which include double bagging, or atmosphere control.

Medical tray materials include options for EtO, electron beam, and gamma radiation sterilization are stocked from suppliers such as Techniplex, and Spartech.  Contact a packaging specialist for help with your project.

Cleanroom LEVELS: None of our off the shelf medical shipping trays are run in a cleanroom so we can not guarantee a specific particulate count with stock items.  With custom trays we offer 4 levels.

  • Standard Production:  Trays run in a non cleanroom environment.  Standard practices are followed including limiting time exposed(in the manufacturing environment) and packaging immediately following the production.
  • Controlled Environment: This is a step up from standard. It is not a 3rd party certified cleanroom.  This is an enclosed space which is temperature controlled, and humidity controlled.  Employees wear hair nets and gloves and all parts are double bagged.  This limits any corrugated exposure to the parts and allows for the inner bag to be removed from the package and taken into a cleanroom.  Additional inspection reviews parts for particulate or FOD.  Many of the smaller off the shelf trays can be run in this facility; and it allows lower volume custom applications unlike the Class 8 cleanroom options below.
  • Class 8 Cleanroom:  This is a certified cleanroom and the practices in the above “Controlled Environment” are included.  Materials .010″ to .060″ thickness can be run.  Please note this requirement if applicable with the project manager.  This facility is ISO 9001-2015 certified.  A 10,000 unit minimum applies for all custom jobs for this option.
  • Class 8 Cleanroom with ISO 13485 CE Mark:  This is a certified cleanroom and the practices in the above “Controlled Environment” are included.  Materials .010″ to .060″ thickness can be run.  Please note this requirement if applicable with the project manager. A 10,000 unit minimum applies for all custom jobs for this option.

Additional Options: Double Bagging as needed. This is a add on item and only for run to order items on stock tools; and with Custom Medical Trays. Standard off the shelf product is not double bagged.

Medical Materials For Plastic Trays:

Please Note: Our off the shelf trays are not run in a clean-room so we can not guarantee a specific particulate count.  Cleanroom options are available for higher volume applications, but all medical tray packaging limits exposure to the environment; and are packaged immediately following manufacture.  Run to order trays can be double bagged for use in the customer’s cleanroom facility.
